The Mysteries of New Franchises and Mechanics
Whispers in the Well introduces new synergies and previously unexplored areas of the Disney universe.
1. New Character Types
The set introduces two new archetypes that will soon play a key role in deck building.
Detectives: These cards offer a very interesting type synergy with each other. Cards like Judy Hopps – Uncovering Clues allow you to search your deck for other Detectives, while Nick Wilde – Persistent Investigator rewards players by letting you draw a card when one of your Detectives banishes a challenging character.
Whispers: These cards represent fragments of history torn from the Lorebook. We can't wait to learn more about them.
2. The Boost Mechanic
The Concept: Boost allows a player to pay Ink to place the top card of their deck face down under a Whisper character, thus boosting its abilities.
The Strategic Impact: This is a risk management mechanic: either lose the top card of your deck so it can neutralize an opposing character, or do nothing and potentially lose an advantage. This mechanic will help tempo-based strategies where control is key.
3. The Anticipated Debuts
The new Whispers in the Well set will introduce us to franchises never before explored in Lorcana, and even new abilities for recurring characters, adding even more cards for collectors to hunt.
