Lorcana follows the seasons and offers us a chilling set that will send shivers down your opponents' spines. We officially welcome the game's 11th expansion to stores: Winterspell! But before going any further, here's everything you need to know about Ravensburger's latest announcements.

A starting balance
New cards are being introduced, called Underdogs. They will be used to balance the advantage of the player who starts the game.
"If it's your first turn and you're not the first player, you pay 1 less ink to play this character." This means that if you play second, you can play your character for 2 ink a turn earlier, which can make up for the turn deficit you have if you start after your opponent.

Improved Boost Mechanics
Building on the mechanics of its predecessor, Whispers in the Well, the new Winterspell set brings a breath of fresh air (hehe) to the Boost mechanic. Instead of activating and deactivating, new cards will continue to improve based on the number of cards placed beneath them. For example, Genie Magical Researcher increases the number of lore counters it can search for depending on the number of cards placed beneath it.

New Winter Music
In addition to the new mechanics, Lorcana expands the song repertoire by adding franchise staples like "Let It Go" and "Colors of the Wind."

Products to Consider
Note that Winterspell has one small peculiarity: there will be no starter decks. To build your new decks, you'll need:
Winterspell Boosters
The Illuminateer's Trove
The Scrooge McDuck Gift Box: It's scheduled for release on March 13, 2026. This collector's box contains a promotional card, five booster packs, and a storage box.
