It's a multiverse collision! MTG is welcoming a new franchise to its game, and it's none other than our neighborhood best friend from the Marvel Universe! The new Marvel's Spider-Man set hits the store on Friday, September 19th during our preview event. And we can't wait to see you there!
Beyond Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe: The Impact on the Game
Magic the Gathering has been expanding its universe to include franchises well-known to the geek world for some time now. We've seen Doctor Who, Warhammer 40k, and more recently, even Sonic the Hedgehog. Until now, these were mostly special cards that served to pay homage to these franchises that have marked our generations. And honestly, we take a positive stance, knowing that, for many, these cards "contaminate" the original Magic universe.
And Magic seems to want to continue in this direction because the new Marvel's Spider-Man set becomes the second Universes Beyond set to be legal in Standard format upon its release. In concrete terms, this means that the cards will quickly become highly sought-after, as they will shape the format's current meta.

The Soul Stone
Even without the "harness" mechanic, the artifact remains an indestructible mana generator for 2 mana. That's already excellent, and the rest is a piece of cake. Not to mention the fact that if the Soul Stone appears here, everything points to other sets where we can find the five missing stones.
Lizard, Connors’s Curse
Its effect may seem trivial, but note the absence of the text “until it leaves the battlefield.” This gives you much greater control over the game and could possibly be as scary as Oko, Thief of Crown. Okay, maybe not, but it’s close.
Multiversal Passage
A land that acts like a shockland and can choose its type? Not only is it a good card for fixing a color problem, but it can easily replace a harder-to-place fetch and keep the curve efficient.

It's time to share an evening and experience the excitement of a new set with a community that shares your passion! It's a friendly event and the perfect way to discover the set. Players build decks with the boosters they receive in the pre-release box and compete in a tournament where each round win earns them a pack. Not to mention the two additional packs upon registration and store credit prizes for the winner!
