Hello everyone!
Yesterday, I participated in the F2F Store Championship, which featured 24 players.
I brought Dimir Kaito again, but with a slightly modified roster in case I played against Convoke or Roots.
This event was probably going to be the toughest of the three this weekend, with five rounds plus a Top 8.
The day started well with a two-game win against Mono Red.
Then came another win, this time against Boros Convoke in three games, where my Sideboard Neutralize the Guards came in handy.
In the third round, I quickly won two games against Golgari Midrange. I was therefore guaranteed a Top 8 finish from there.
An intentional draw in the fourth round against Golgari Roots would allow me to play last for prizes without risking too much. 😇
To finish the Swiss rounds, I won against Dimir Kaito to finish 2nd before the Top 8. 💪
I felt good before starting the Top 8 and was hoping to avoid a loss against one of the two Roots decks in the remaining players.
Luckily for me, I won my quarterfinal match against a pretty cool four-color Discover combo deck.
I only had one round left to win to advance to the finals. 🤩
With two City of Brass promos in play for the winner, there was a good chance I could split the finals. So, all I had to do from that point on was win the semifinals.
I found myself one game away, just like Friday night and Saturday afternoon. All I had to do was beat...Noah on Golgari Roots (oh no! 😥)
You guessed it, I lost to my worst matchup yet again 😅
I don't know if there's a term for the opposite of a hat trick, but I think my weekend of losing the deciding match three times in three events would fit the definition 😂
That said, I'm very satisfied with my performance and my level of play throughout these tournaments.
I'm particularly proud of having been able to play well with Dimir Kaito despite not having played this type of deck in almost a year.
Finally, I'd like to thank Cartes Léo for the opportunity and thank you to everyone who reads me 😃
For now, I'm going to enjoy the summer a little before the next RCQ season 😉
See you next time!
