We've all been there. It's mid-June, the sun is blazing, and there's a growing hype around gaming, slowly building as summer has barely begun. The releases of Lorcana and Riftbound are in a couple of weeks, Magic: The Gathering has just released Marvel Super Heroes, and Pokémon booster packs are being opened slowly.
In short, despite the publishers' quietness, the desire to play doesn't take a vacation. And there are some things people don't always think about when it comes to playing in stores during the summer. So we've written a short article to share them with you and help you turn your gaming sessions into perfect evenings.
Sticky Sleeves
We all know that moment when you're focused on the game, the match is incredibly close, and you're reaching for THE card that could change everything. Except that, with the summer heat, your hands get sweaty and your sleeves feel sticky and unpleasant.
The heat also affects your sleeves. Take the time to wash your hands with cold water between rounds; you'll see your sleeves will thank you. Plus, cold water can help you refocus if you're losing concentration. And it keeps your deck clean.
Greasy Sleeves
It's well known that to play good games, you need to stay hydrated and even have a good snack. Our ambassadors regularly remind us of this.
But if there's one thing we all dread, it's those slightly suspicious fingerprints on our favorite playmats or on a card we're particularly fond of. Replacing traditional snacks like chips, jujubes, and the like with cleaner options such as almonds (don't underestimate the power of almonds!), a granola bar, or crackers is the ultimate small gesture of respect for your own gaming equipment. Not to mention, your opponent, who didn't ask for any of this, will thank you for not having dirty fingers.
The Comfort of Our Gaming Bubble
When we sit down for a long evening of Commander or a tournament at a store, we simply want to be comfortable. For many of us, the store becomes a refuge from the heat. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
To keep the atmosphere pleasant for everyone around the table, prioritize everyone's comfort: maintain good personal hygiene (yes, many people forget their deodorant), avoid touching others if possible, and keep your distance to respect the fact that it's hot for everyone.
Come play!
The next releases might be a few weeks away, but our passion is still going strong. It's the perfect time to come play those decks you just built, or those you never have time for, or simply chat about our favorite universes in a cool, relaxed atmosphere.
Fill your water bottle, grab your deck, and come see us this week! The tables are ready and the good times are waiting!
