Since Riftbound burst onto the scene last October, the game has carved out a special place in the hearts of card gamers. Where many others have failed, it must be said. If you haven't yet tried this new powerhouse, you're probably wondering: "Another TCG? Is it really different from the others?"
Yes.

The Riftbound Difference: The Game Where Everything Has Consequences
Riftbound distinguishes itself from other TCGs with its tactical and dynamic approach. Unlike other, more traditional card games, victory doesn't depend on the raw power of your draw. Since you and your opponents always open the same number of runes (the equivalent of mana, ink, or energy) on your turn, everyone levels up, and it becomes a matter of strategy and reaction.
What makes the game unique is the constant management of preserving your resources, choosing your battlefields, and how to use different zones to your advantage. This strategic tension between the crucial placement of your forces and the reaction system that allows for dramatic turnarounds gives the game an atmosphere unlike any other. It's a game that rewards understanding the mechanics as much as deck building, which is less random than other similar games.

The Second Set: Spiritforged
On February 6th, Riftbound takes another step forward with the release of the Spiritforged set, the second in the series. While the first few months allowed us to become familiar with the game's basics, this expansion changes things.
The Art of War: Equipment and Mastery
The heart of this set lies in the Equipment cards. These Gear cards attach to your units to improve them. But there's also the introduction of the Weaponmaster keyword. These specialized units allow you to equip Gears for one less Power Point as soon as they enter play. This is a massive tempo boost that will significantly accelerate the pace of games.
Gold!
One of the new features I find most interesting for deck stability is the introduction of Gold. It's a new Gear Token that can be spent on any Domain Power. This will allow for promising multi-domain combinations.

Reactivity and Power: Quick-Draw and Repeat
These new mechanics are going to be devastating. Two new mechanics to surprise your opponent.
Quick Draw
It allows you to play a Gear at the speed of a Reaction and attach it directly, ignoring the standard cost.
Repeat
This is an additional cost mechanic that allows you to pay twice the cost of a card to trigger its effect twice. And yes, you can switch targets. This is a very useful keyword in the early game and becomes incredibly effective in the late game if you have the resources.
