RCQ Modern tournament at the Face à Face store
RCQ Modern tournament at the Face à Face store

Last Sunday, I participated in the RCQ Modern tournament at the Face à Face store in Montreal. No fewer than 41 players were present; a fierce competition. Since I don't play Modern regularly at the moment, I decided to stick with a sure thing: Boros Energy.
In Round 1, I faced Azorius Blink, who, like me, relied on the strength of Guide of Souls and Ocelot Pride, but also on the addition of Phelia and Quantum Riddler for card advantage. The first game was close at the beginning, and I even thought I had the upper hand by bringing him down to 5 life. The game turned in his favor when he finally managed to keep a Phelia in play and make it big enough for me to kill. The second game was less successful, as he destroyed two of my lands on turn 3, and I was stuck with only two Plains in play for the rest of the game. I stayed in the game surprisingly long thanks to Guide of Souls and well-placed Wrath of Skies, but I still ended up with seven red cards in hand.

Sealed Secrets of Strixhaven tournament on the F2F Tour
Sealed Secrets of Strixhaven tournament on the F2F Tour

Last Saturday, I drove to Quebec City to participate in the Sealed Secrets of Strixhaven tournament on the F2F Tour. Having played Two-Headed Giant at the Prerelease with my son, I felt confident about the format. Okay, maybe not entirely. Nevertheless, the set seemed enjoyable overall, and I had really liked the Strixhaven universe in its first iteration.

This Sunday, I played the Secrets of Strixhaven RCQ Sealed event at F2F. There were 33 of us ready for action at 10 AM 🫡

When I opened my pool, I quickly realized I had quite a few good white and black decks, as well as some good red ones. Since I didn't have much experience with this set before, it was difficult to assess whether going into three colors was worthwhile. As I found the white and black deck strong and consistent enough to perform well, I decided to leave the red out. I should also mention that I had some powerful cards like Emeritus of Woe, Emeritus of Peace, Scheming Silvertongue, and an Informed Inkwright.

Legacy 1K tournament at Face à Face Montréal
Legacy 1K tournament at Face à Face Montréal

Last Sunday, I participated in the Legacy 1K tournament at Face à Face Montréal.

First off, although I love the format, I don't play Legacy very often. Face à Face Montréal is one of the only stores that offers weekly Legacy nights, with a great, welcoming community, and it's difficult for me to travel to Montreal during the week. I still keep an eye out for the few weekend tournaments with attractive prizes so I can enjoy this wonderful format.

RCQ Sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle at Face to Face
RCQ Sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle at Face to Face

Hello everyone! Last Sunday, I decided at the last minute to play the RCQ Sealed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle at the Face à Face store. Although I'd already qualified for the next RC in Gatineau in May, I had a free day and I'm always excited to compete with a new set. Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be the case for many people, as there were only 16 of us, which contrasts sharply with the recent Lorwyn Eclipsed sealed events and their forty or so players.
